The Fateful Bonds of Kinship

File:Bare Oak Tree.jpg

Too loosely it seems, that the terms ‘Brother’ or ‘Sister’ are thrown about, as if it is a mere nickname for a friend or acquaintance, the ‘in’ thing to do maybe? Too often it seems, that these terms are put on others without a mutual consent, as a way of ‘owning’ a relationship with another and the perceived ‘status’ that the relationship may bring.

This is no different to the tom-cat urinating all over its territory! This is not the true spirit of Kinship.

On the whole, friendships and acquaintances can be won or lost with a matter of ease and effortless simplicity when compared to the inseparable bond of Kinship once recognised as such. To be Kin is to surrender the whims and wants of singular self in favor for what is necessary for the nurturing continuation of one’s People.

“Do not what you desire, do what is necessary..”

~ (Robert Cochrane)

The concept of Kinship would be too burdensome for those who look for and hold on to a security found in their own ego, own reflection, own ‘world’. Within the occult community and the neo-pagan sphere the idea of Kinship seems somewhat romanticised; a sickly-sweet lullaby to soothe the lonely wanderer. As in nature, however, this sweetness and soothing is only half of the reality. The most beautiful flower or most majestic tree is only supported by the deep, unromantic, unerring roots, acting by necessity, hidden from view.

Toil, strain, adversity, things that are usually shied away from when faced individually, are met head-on when one’s People are experiencing such. One cannot shy away and pretend that their life of ‘self’ is all okay, an attitude of: “I will just stay quiet and keep the head beneath the parapet, this will all blow over soon” is the misgivings of an acquaintance or a friend at best, who would greet with open arms shouting “Brother! Sister!” when it was safe to do so again. This is not the behaviour of Kin, as true Kinship is not the easy path.

Is Kinship, true Kinship, something to be sought after? Can it be sought after? As if it were an aim to achieve within the choice and control of mortal mind. “You can choose your friends but you cannot choose your family” is an adage to be considered indeed. Being re-united with those who share the Mark is a blessing indeed, yet it was out of my hands and so by Her Grace I was pulled and I am enveloped, for better or worse, together we now stand.

When Troths are given, and vows are made upon the crossed roads (see Veritas Omnia Vincit), it is pledging loyalty through the rough and joyous laughter through the smooth. Submitting one’s self within Himself, an obligation shared in Her Name, upholding Her honour in Truth. It is the discovery of Self and surrendering it as an offering for one’s People which is a true and worthy sacrifice. The tethers of ego are to be loosed, the ties that bind now are bonds of Kinship. Without realising, the false-self slowly whithers and fades, actions and thoughts that previously may not have been seen to be ‘yours’ are now being made, for now you are Kin and how you act is now for the good of the whole, the Kinsfolk must continue in order for those searching to be gathered ‘home’ again, this is the unitive priority, this priority is natural and goes without question. One’s totality, is shared in “the blood“, surrendered in Truth; strength in unity, through which a continued heritage, a legacy shining out as a beacon for those of Family to look towards and walk the path back home.

Some may feel that this is a heavy burden, a burden which shouldn’t be imposed on them as they search for their ‘own truth’; these are the people that should think twice before declaring the Fateful bonds of Kinship.

Veritas Omnia Vincit – Truth Conquers All

File:Leighton-God Speed!.jpg

I have an enemy.

It has been an age since I have had such unwavering clarity and purpose.

Ego. You shall not usurp the throne! Know the necessary place granted to you and demand no more!

My own ‘ego’ willingly surrenders to thralldom as my Liege is called Truth and I have been bestowed the honour of holding Her daughter Wisdom as my Beloved. The marriage date is set upon the fullness of the moon, two as one, the mystical ‘I do’ declared upon the crossroads, Gyfu’s face, the ego of a man now sacrificed upon this Holy Rune. Eat, drink and be merry at this union feast, hold your Beloved close as you leave for the Marriage Chamber, upon the morn you shall then rise anew, life then-on obligated to protect the kingdom in which your fealty lies, the Kingdom of Truth.

The unwavering loyalty is reciprocal towards true champions of Truth, married to Wisdom, this Oath pervades the threshold of Time and the bridal-purse ensures the Champions’ protection, the ancestors embrace and sustain the wellbeing of all true kin without exception once loyalty to Truth and Faithful Love towards the Bride has been declared. Turn away from petty distraction, the venom and false account spit through the mouths of the ‘ego-obsessed’. Know that the kingdom in which you belong and She that heads it, Truth, can never be taken by force, or by the will of any, it is a Grace bestowed on the true pilgrim that surrenders to Her will. Through willing surrender you have been gifted unknowable freedom! Truth will conquer all, become Her Champion!

The pilgrim becomes Her Champion when the reciprocal Love of Wisdom blossoms in their core, the ‘I do’ of this union has then been uttered; they shall then fight for Truth, and they shall not fall. The Lie assumes that winning strategies are held, yet illusory prizes will rot to dust and will be scattered into obscurity by the Winds. Ivory towers will tople, false ’empires’ will crumble, yet the Trinity of Truth, Love and Beauty will remain steadfast for those who hold it dear, it is not a commodity to be bought or sold, this Trinity is the inescapable essence which will hold the Faithful strong as all would-be usurpers are overcome.

Stay true to your vows held upon the Crossroads, never look back to your life of old, hold fast to your inherited Kingdom now, heed not to the false witness of the blind.

I had an enemy.

Through its demise I am filled now with the Word, what I have been granted is eternal. Join me, we shall uphold Her throne, together in the Trinity of Truth, Love and Beauty we shall remain as One.

How art thou fallen..

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?”
1 Corinthians 3:16

Empires and Ages rise and fall, constant ebb and flow, yet a persistent yearning is ever present; a yearning for Truth, to be One with Godhead, to be gathered up back home again.

The Cunning Apostle’s blog is merely a continuation of this yearning, walking a path trodden by those labeled as Saints, Sages, Mystics, all begin as the Holy Fool. So may we strive to be lovers of Wisdom, may the Light of Truth guide us.

Let us not be fascinated by the illusion of the Lie; let us hearken instead to the all-pervading Word and heed the Craftsman’s warning when aspiring to be free from perceived entrapment. Start by looking within; as another Craftsman had said “Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”, repeating what the wise have held in ages past: “Man, Know thyself and thou will know the universe and the Gods”. Yet be cautious, as like Icarus, we may fall, being scorched due to heady curiosity and craving, racing compulsively further once we finally feel the Winds envelop us as we soar towards Light.

Hold that throughout this journey hubris shall scorch wings, instead take up the humble robe and staff of the pilgrim, these companions shall patiently guide you. A lofty destination the journey may provide, but know that it is only through a repeated sequence of single steps that we may arrive there. Keep Faith that although we may miss the mark, we must strive to carry on, as it is even through the smallest crack within darkness that Light can pour forth.
